The general of the Russian army, which was passing through Kovie, invited Reb Nachum Moshe to enter the army camp along with the local Catholic priest and bless the troops. The Rebbe was asked to don a talus and appear before the troops at a prescribed time. After the priest had delivered his blessing to the soldiers, Reb Nachum Moshe stepped forward, ready! to bless the troops. Suddenly, the general yelled, “Ready! Aim!
